I recently purchased what I thought was just a rare Axolotl. It was in a tank with other axies, same size but albino. My daughter spotted her and picked her out. I thought she was wild type but the guy in the store said it was a rare Andersoni. I had never heard of that so I thought it was just another color variation. After lots of research I now know it is a totally different species but after googling, a lot of pictures I can't tell the difference between some of the Anderson's and the wild type axies. What do you think??

Also I have a large tank (40 gallon breeder) I intended on getting 2 but they didnt have any lucy's so I was waiting to find one. Now I'm wondering if my little lady would be happier alone or would she like company? Any opinions appreciated!

I'm not sure about your first question, I am not familiar enough with andersoni, but I can help with the second! If it is the usual axolotl, they don't really 'need' companions and wont miss it if they are alone. However, a 40 gallon is big enough to happily house 2 or 3 axies of the same size. My 2 sit on each other and swim together so it seems like they enjoy each other's company haha
If it is andersoni it might be different, but people with more experience of them can help more :)
