What PH do you guys recommend? I'm using 100% RO water and I wonder if that is ok? My tap water is extremely hard and for all my freshwater community fishtanks I made the switch to remineralized RO water. I have not remineralized the axies water although there are some plants and I'd like to but didn't know if that was a good idea or safe. My breeder said ph didn't matter....do you all agree?

Axolots can tolerate a wide range of pH. I have kept specimens in ranges as different as 8.0 and sometimes in other planted tanks they can reach 6.6 for several days when I add CO2. I never saw signs of stress or abnormal behavior and kept eating and swimming happily.

As above, axies are fairly tolerant to pH levels. My tank is around 7.4-7.6, which I believe is the ideal. The range is around 6.5-8. Keep in mind that ammonia is more toxic at a higher pH.
