axolotl prolapse?

So, today I am looking at my axies, and the smaller one [i think a male?] has recently not been growing with as much vigor as the other 2, suddenly smaller gills, and smaller size all over, i know one of my bigger ones is definitely a male [they are all the same age] and i thought that he was just a not the dominant male, and he spent most of his time hiding. today, i noticed something clear comming out of his butt. at first i thought it was eggs, but upon closer inspection, i thought it was a prolapse. I dont know what is going on, i didnt even know that amphibians could prolapse [i am a reptile geek, new to the whole amphibian thing]

I tried to get some pictures, its like round, and clear, and it looks a little like it is trying to squeeze it out, but nothing is happening. I tried to take a couple pics, but this camera totally sucks.

help please!

it appears to have mostly sucked back in, its just a little open now.

keep an eye on it as once they occur they are prone to reoccurance. What is the substrate in the tank?

I'm glad it has gone back inside by itself, this is a difficult thing to treat.

sorry I never got any reply notifications to this thread, I had them on something called "eco complete" which I have since dumped and replaced with large pebbles, he sucked in the prolapse and hasnt had problems since. thanks!
