Hi all!
I just joined Caudata so hopefully I am doing this right. My boyfriend was given an axolotl for his birthday and we have named it Dobby. We absolutely adore him (picture attached). I have noticed these white solid, I guess you could call them crystals or rocks forming in his tank. The first time I didn't think anything of it I just took them out. Then we recently moved his tank and did a full water change and then noticed that there were a lot more of them. Funny thing is we haven't introduced anything like them to his tank so I was just wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing, I have attached a picture of them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Do you know what substrate he was on before you bought him? It looks like grains of sand that he could have ingested and is now getting them out of his system. Have you picked them up or felt them?

My axies pooped out little stones for weeks when I first got them, and my new one is still pooping sand too. It's probably just substrate he was kept on.

My juveniles had been pooping out little bits of gravel for the first couple of weeks when I first got them too.
