Illness/Sickness: Axolotl thrashing round, floating on one side, not eating

I have two axolotls in my tank a gold one and a black one and a few nights ago the gold one started thrashing around in the night and breathing lots of air. the next day he was floating all day. i tried feeding them i gave the black one 2 pieces of food and the gold one didnt want to eat at all. later that night i found the black one floating as well so i took them both out and put them into a container with fresh water to chill out while i clean the tank. i look in the container they were in and there was 5 pieces of food that had been thrown up and the gold one was still floating in there. i was getting pretty worried by now so i filled the tank back up put the black one back in and the gold one in the fridge. hes been in there for the past two night but when i checked on him this morning he started thrashing around, breathed some air and was floating in the small container over to one side so he is now out and sitting on the bench. i have no idea whats wrong hopefully someone can help?

there is sand in the bottom of the tank with some small stones in it. (im thinking maybe he ate one and its stuck?) all of the water parameters are looking good and the temp in the tank is around 15-18 degrees depending on what time of day you look in there

I'd definetely get rid of the stones.

Otherwise I'm not sure what ic could be if all the water parameters are looking good

Are you using water conditioner? How long have you had these axolotls?

Have you been changing the water whilst the axolotl was in the fridge? Be careful how often you move the axolotl in and out of the fridge, the drastic change in temp will only stress your axolotl more. The same goes with water changes whilst in the fridge. That's a lot of times I said fridge there!

Also, what does the little one eat?

This is very strange and I'm not sure what could be causing the thrashing and gasping to be honest. Hopefully they'll be okay.

ive had them quite a while maybe 6 months? yea of course i use water conditioner
ive been changing the water every day and today i noticed there was a little bit more food been thrown up. i feed them a frozen food called axolotl food which is just fish and other good things and beef snitchel. the black one is completely fine today. the gold one isnt eating still and still on his side floating

Mine is having the same problem too, the floating and thrashing he started doing it today. i recently changed his food type (the one he used to eat is not in stock at the moment), he ate it at first but now he rejects it. i also noticed his gills are flaring outwards more. It started after i cleaned his tank out (yes i use conditioner as well) i am not sure about the water my pet shop ran out of test kits. i am going to put him in the fridge as well.

Do you use filters? or airstones? Also beef isn't a good food for axolotls, even in a combination of other foods
