My axolotl has been throwing up for a couple of days. He eats small red wiggler earth worms, and I usually give him a couple. I gave him extra worms on sunday because he kept begging, so I thought he was hungry. He threw up that night. The water was a lithe warm so I cool shim down, thinking that would make him more comfortable. I fed him two very little worms to acclimate him again and this morning (Tuesday) to find he'd thrown up again. His tank is cycled and the temperature is under control (between 68-70 degrees F). My chiller should be here by the beginning of next week.
I'm very very worried, he seems alert and active, healthy otherwise. :(

Maybe the red wrigglers aren't agreeing with him? I hear they produce a nasty slime.

He's been eating them for months :/ that's likely not the issue but thanks!

If he's an adult he could have been overfed (I've had it happen a couple times, those begging eyes are lying! but you live and you learn how much they need to eat) however, I still think it could possibly be the worms, maybe something has changed with the worms? like if you aren't breeding them then maybe wherever you're buying them from could have changed what they feed the worms and whatever is in their system is disagreeing with your axie?

or the worms could be only secreting the nasty stuff now for some reason?

just throwing out suggestions

Interestingly enough, I breed my worms. However all my worms were about to lay eggs (It's a small farm, just enough to feed one lotl) and since they were all pregnant, I didn't want to give them to my axolotl. So I ran to the LPS and picked up a small container of small worms (I breed red wigglers) and fed him some of those. He threw up after that. I tossed them into my farm dirt, though, so once they start eating the same as my worms they should be all good.

It sounds like he was over fed and then he was cooled down so much he expelled what was on him. My axie threw up after being in the fridge for a while even though he was in there for something else. The temperature may have exasperated the overfeeding issue.

I hope so. Thanks for all your help! He's been active and healthy looking otherwise. Gonna feed him again tonight and hope he keeps it down.
