Illness/Sickness: Axolotl won't eat

Hi,

Just a quick one to ask when I should be getting worried my axie (Leon) isn't eating? It's been a week now and he won't even snap at the food I offer! (I give them a mixture of pellets and earthworms).

My other axolotl (Atlas) is still eating (but not as much, he's usually very greedy). I've checked the water and all parameters are fine and I do regular water changes. But over the last couple of weeks it has been extremely hot in the UK and the tank water has been quite warm (about 18.C).

Shall I put a frozen bottle of water into the tank everyday? Or is this dangerous? What else can I do? The tank is not near the window and I've been keeping the curtains shut to try keep my room cool! What else could be causing them not to eat? I don't dare force feed!

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Heat would be my first thought at the moment. Ice bottles are OK if you're there to roatae them regularly, but a fan works well too. But if your tank really is 18C how are you managing it in this heat?
Is Leon male or female? Females often go off their food if they are reabsorbing unfertilised eggs.
A week isn't long for an adult axie not to eat, the time to worry is if they get too thin. In my experience they tend to make up for lost time once their appetite comes back, so once Leon starts eating again make sure he/she gets enough to eat.

By keeping the curtains closed it helps with the temperature! I not 100% sure of the gender but I think they're both male. I'll keep an eye on him n hopefully he'll start eating soon!
