Axolotls leg bitten off...

Hi there, I have 2 axolotls. We first got one 3 months ago or so... He has obviously got bigger. A couple of weeks ago we added by getting another one. Unfortunately the guy who sold it kinda emphasized its size and it came smaller than our original. We put a divider in the tank but occasionally let them through to eachother with no problems and maybe a little naiively took the divider out after a few days. Theyve been fine for a few weeks but recently i noticed the smaller ones leg was missing weve separated them now but im wondering if theres anything i need to do other than keeping her well fed in clean water etc...

Update. 5 days later and the leg has started growing back!
