Hi guys. Just 5 mins ago i saw Ponyo swimming along the tank side, for around 2 minuites. Im not sure if this is normal or a sign of an illness? Her temps are 18 celsius, parameters are ammonia and nitrite=0 ppm, and nitrate 10 ppm. Ph is 7.6 as usual, my room is kinda dark and its 6:46 pm right now, so maybe its because she's more active towards nighttime? She also didnt swim too frantically, just around the tank a lot. Right now she is not moving (probally resting). Just wanna know if this is normal and if your axolotls do this too. Thanks!

this is normal behaviour, axolotls are mostly nocturnal .

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
