Hi all!

I'm new to axolotls and have recently hatched some babies from the eggs. They're tight on 4 weeks old now, but still only 2cms or less in length. I'm feeding them daphnia at the moment and they're in some containers with not much water so they can find the daphnia.

Just wanting to compare with how my babies are doing growth-wise compared to others.

If someone knew of the standard sizes at a certain number of days/weeks that I could compare too, that would be amazing! Or even if you can link to a gallery or something that could show me that.

Thanks guys! This forum is awesome! It's been super helpful in getting everything ready... Hoping you can help with this too!

Matt

Axolotls often grow at different rates, its just down to the genetics of the Axolotl and which feed more.

They tend to grow slowly at first when feeding on a small food source, best you can do is give plenty of food everyday. Once they are over an inch you should be able to feed bloodworm and you will notice a big increase in size once moving onto this food source.

I wouldn't limit the amount of water in the containers, otherwise the water temperature will rise rapidly and water can foul faster.

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

We'd love to see some pictures of your little ones.

Thanks for the advice. The lady I purchased the eggs from sent me a photo of her babies from the same batch the other day and hers are at 4cm or more. I suppose its to do with what she's feeding them etc.

It's not super amazing sorry! The first picture is of my babies at a month old.

The second picture is of another bunch from the same batch of eggs raised by someone else (with far more experience than me).
