Hey Everyone, Just wondering if it is possible that newly hatched axies will each something other then live food? i dont have the time or money to raise live food for them so i was given this liquid food stuff to give them. i had baby axies once befor and we didnt feed em live food and some survived. But im a bit worried now coz i saw on here that they need live food? anybody experience this befor? any advise would be great

They do need live food. Is the liquid stuff called Liquifry? That doesn't do anything aside from foul the water as far as I'm concerned.

Have a look at www.axolotl.org under the breeding topics - its comprehensive.

Ok Thanks, i made a few calls and ive found someone who can supply me with baby brine shrimp really cheap so hopefully all goes well. thanks for taking the time to reply Anne-Marie

, i appreciate it

Hailz - What did you feed the babies you had before?
I am curious as to what some of them did manage to survive on that wasn't live food.

Hi Cynthia,I think it was just dried out crushed up brine shrimp and other little bits of insect.I only had 2 axies that ended up making it. Im thinking now they may have just eaten each other. Im feeding the ones i have now live black worms at the moment they love them, they are such little piggy's.

How often should i feed them, i was looking on here but couldnt find it, i prob missed it. Any ideas? Thanx heaps

Hailz - I fed my larvae twice a day. Make sure you keep the water clean they create a lot of waste.

Glad you found some live food, hope they do well
