Bait shop worms as food?

are live earthworms sold in a fishing shop as bait a suitable food for spotted salamanders?

As long as they aren't the "colored" type. I've seen "green glowing earthworms" for sale and I've heard there are other colors too.

Bait worms are great food for caudates. They are also high in healthy nutrients, and are easy to keep. I feed my Pachytriton earthworms from Wal-Mart, and she seems to love them. Cheers.

Has anyone tried the "African" nightcrawlers? Hopefully they're not as acidic as the redworms
