So the other day I was at a lake looking for tadpoles like I do every year in the spring. This time though when I dipped my net in I realised I caught a newt. I think he is a smooth or a palmate newt I'm not sure but because I can't post pictures here I will find out on my own. I have a few questions on his care.
1. I am feeding him woodllouce on land and in the water I have three small frog tadpoles, water bugs (not sure which ones), water snails and bloodworms. But I am not sure if he is eating. So is what I'm feeding ok? How to know when he eats the food?
2. I have a small dish (like a clay plate thing that is supposed to be under plant pots) and I've put a small layer of soil and on top of that a small layer of moss. I have planted small plants from the forest. ( small ferns, a flowering plant and grass) is that ok?
3. How deep should the water be?
4. What else should i know about keeping them?
Thanks so much for answering
