OK, I know Axie's have these odd ribs down their sides....like, well, ribs, that make little ridges down their sides. But, I'm noticing that Stellios has a nice fat belly but it's kinda uneven. It bulges out in different places. Is that normal?

Do you have a picture? Might be easier for us to see exactly what you mean.

These are older, but you can kinda see it. Sometimes it's a lot and sometimes not so much... in the first pic there is a bulge on the left and in the second, it's on the right.

He loves to eat and does swim around, though he hides mostly when his plant lights are on from 1:30pm to 9:30pm. He poops a lot too. His main foods are BSFL (in both squishy larva form and slightly harder pupating form,) blood worms and pellets.

My axolotl looked like that too, when he was young. It seemed to be more prominent after he ate. I think it's just the normal shape of their organs. When they are little, they don't have as much body fat or muscle, so it's more obvious. I'd bet that he'll grow out of it, just like mine did. Looks like you have a really neat setup!

Sorry for the double post, but here's a pic of my axie's belly when he was a baby. Lumpy and totally normal

Yes!!!! It's totally lumpy like that!! Thanks!!

I love his set up right now, but I have a feeling I may need to change it when he gets bigger to give him more floor space and a bigger hide. He doesn't use his hides much anyway.... he just sits along the back wall a lot, lol.
