Best for a beginner

Hello guys i was looking into keeping some frogs an was wondering what is the best for a beginner:
Hyla Or Rana?
 
Most Ranids are difficult to keep properly - very nervous.
Hylids are easier, but mostly nocturnal and can be very noisy!
Bombina?
 
I agree Bombina are always a good starter species. I started with a White's Tree Frog (Litoria caerulea)

I was thinking about Hyla versicolor, are those hard to keep?
 
Welcome to the wonderful world of Hylids!
(My main tip would be don't forget the vit-min supplement.)
 
Cool! thanks a bunch, now i just have to convince mom that we have room for them!!
just outa curiosity, how many could i fit comfortably in a twenty gallon tank?
 
My first frog was pseudacris Regilla, very hardy with no heat requirements.
 
I'm thinking of getting a tree frog but i'm worried about the noise it will make when I'm trying to sleep. Are there any frogs which make very little noise during the night? During the day doesn't matter.
 
my little brother/me started out with a red eyed tree frog. He didn't make that much noise. just his food lol;p
 
i would definently start out with a hyla versicolor (gray tree frog) i currently have 3. they also were what i started out with. because i could catch them in my backyard i have had at least 30.
 
H. versicolor is pretty loud.

hyla versicolors may be loud but they are a joy to have also they dont take much caring for toss in a bit of food (any thing that will fit in theyre mouth lol) every 1 or 2 days. and they should be fine. you could check amphibiancare.com for more info.:supercool:
 
I think frog calls are one of the most beutiful sounds in existense, but then again i'm insane:D.
