Hey there, i am still studying genetics and planing for next years breeding projects. And i have a wild type that is het for purple that i am looking forward to breeding once they are ready. - What would be the ideal match for this cutie?

I have black melanoids, leucistics, wilds, coppers, golden albinos , mosaics, and white albinos.

To my understanding, isn't a "purple" just a very light black melanoid?

So in this case, would the best match be a melanoid?

Thanks for your suggestions!

Purple = axanthic.
If you cross a wild het purple to anything other than a purple or het purple you'll only get wildtypes.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
