Best way to get newts out of tank

I've only had my newts a short time, but I'm always having trouble getting them out of the tank for a cleaning or water change. I have Spanish Ribbed Newts and they refuse to leave the water, ever. So far the best I've done is catching them in a small container but I can tell it stresses them out so I was hoping you may have better suggestions?

Where is the need to take them out? If they're a decent size, they won't get sucked up by a siphon and will swim away from it. And you shouldn't really be doing any 100% water changes either
