I'm planning on getting an axolotl in the near future but I'm still struggling with what to do for water treatments. I'm on well water and the pH is 6.0 and KH and GH both non-existent. I would like to use crushed coral in mesh bags but don't know if it would raise those parameters high enough to an axolotls liking. Holtfreter's solution seems like it would solve this problem but not as easy as crushed coral. Suggestions?

Ok, thank you. I will start with crushed coral and will plan on making up some Holtfreter's then.
YOu will likely need to do both if you want to use the well water.

You could look at natural spring water as well

I think crushed coral will raise your pH and kH. The holtfreter's solution will likely raise all parameters . I use crushed seashells to control my pH and modified holtfreter's to raise general hardness. It seems to work for me
