Hi I have had a bio film problem in my tank for about 2 month and I cant get it to go away. I've been doing for frequent water changes but not only is this tiring but I dont want it to interfere with my cycle. any advice? it attaches to my plants and also sits on top of the water.

I would guess that it probably is related to the water quality of your tap water. Do you know how the water in your area is treated? Obviously, you don't want there to be chlorine or other bacteria-killing chemicals still in the water when you add it to the aquarium, but it does help to clean up the water beforehand. I would suggest trying out spring water for a little bit, and if that seems to clear up the issue, maybe invest in some kind of water purifier?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
