Biosphere newt / salamander

I'm building a biosphere for my science class (both terrestrial and aquatic). I am looking for a rather tolerant one/two that I can supply with a self sustaining food source. (small fish are out of the question)
thanks for your help.

I don't think it's possible. What are the options for a sustaining food source? A newt/sal needs some kind of insect or worm. Since they are not efficient at finding food, it would need to be plentiful. You would be taking a pretty great risk that the newt/sal would simply die, or live without eating for a long time.

try getting a culture of daphnia going and then once you have quite a bit of daphnia put most of the daphnia in and they wont die until eaten and they will even reproduce in the tank so your newt/sal will have an unlimeted food source
keep some daphnia on their own so they can multiply just in case the other daphnia all get eaten before they can reproduce
