Hello! I’m new to this forum and a relatively new Axie Mommy (since last August). A week ago today I noticed Sunny, my juvenile lotl, developed a blood blister on her back. It doesn’t seem to slow her down, her appetite is great...I think it bothers me more that her.
Anyway...it’s gotten slightly larger but seems to have stabilized in size.
I placed a Catappa leaf in with her on Friday to help her heal but I haven’t noticed much of a difference. Water parameters are perfect and her water stays at a constant temperature of 63-64F. I’ll attach some photos. If anyone can give me advice...I’d love to help her get rid of this thing...poor baby! Thank you in advance for taking the time to help us. PS. The first pics are from today...the latter pics are from a week ago.

Woah, I have never seen that. I have no idea what could have caused it. Man, yeah, I really hope someone more experienced can weigh in on this. Sorry I can't help but how long has she had it? Could she have crawled under something and irritated her skin? Mine cut her tail once by waddling her fat butt through some drift wood.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
