Bombina pachypus

I have a question about the pachypus. Is it recognised as a different species or still as a subspecies of Bombina variegata. Is there something like an official declaration from an authority that declare that pachypus is a full species?

i belive that it is a species in it's own right

pachypus was split from the variegata complex in the early 90's but it seems that it's only really been in the past couple of years that people have taken note of the change.

Are you for 100% sure Andrew? Do somebody keep or breed with this species?

Who have or breed with B. pachypus?

Yes pachypus is a separate species.
I keep them and have attempted to breed this year but acquired my female very late in the season, I'm due to pick some more up from a breeder next month so hopefully all should be well for a good breeding year in 2006.
