Illness/Sickness: Both axolotls now floating

So just yesterday I purchased another axolotl for my 20 gallon along with a few new plants. They both seemed to be all fine, the new one seems to be completely stress free (except for not eating) but that is understandable. Both of the axolotls were completely healthy, water is at good temperature, nothing out of the ordinary in the water. Then when I woke up, my original axie started floating. So I started preparing to start fridging him, but when I went back I noticed now the new one has also started floating. Is there anything I can do to stop this? Clearly it's something contagious in the water, I just do not know of any real treatments other than 100% water change, and even if that will work. Thanks.

*Just checked on him again, and now he's (The original) stopped floating. I'm so confused D:

axolotls do tend to float, they will do that and stay motionless, its as if they are sleeping
if you startle them they zip about but should not be anything to worry about

Alright, thanks I'm just always a bit worried. My original has never really done it and he just started as soon as the new one came in.

Sometimes they will float for a bit even when they are perfectly healthy. No need to rush to fridge them. Fridging them causes stress in itself, so should only be done when proven necessary. Wait for at least a day and watch their behavior. Unless they continue to float and can't go down when they choose to do so, there is no need to fridge them.

Search this forum while you are waiting and see what the experts have said over the years - there is a lot of accumulated knowledge here.

Thank you very much, I've had him for 2 years now and I know quite a bit, but whenever something goes differently I always go crazy scared
