OK, Stelly is around 9 months old and 9" long. Last week, he had a flat bum.....then on the weekend a slight swelling, hen a few days ago, a bit bigger. This picture is from today...., safe to say Stelly is Stellios and NOT Stella?
Picture 1 is today (much bigger.....man parts?)
Picture 2 is a few days ago
Picture 3 is on the weekend.

It looks like his toe tips have also changed color; was that in tandem with the swelling in question? Im going to venture a guess, and say that if the toe tips changed way before, like a noticeably long amount of time before the swelling occured, that it may be un related.

It has been noted that some females retain slightly swollen cloaca, similar to the 2nd picture, but you might very well have a male.
Youll definitely want a second opinion though.

Also, i love your use of sucction cup leaves! Im thinking about picking some up later this week. Does Stella use them much? Off topic, i know ?

The toe tips are actually exposed bone from when I had a too rough substrate. :( I put in super soft sand but they haven't really healed yet.... just went black.

He uses the leaves occasionally, but he likes his floating log. He hangs out inside it.

Oh, snap. Are you sure its bone? In the first picture, his toe tips look like a typical white axolotl getting dark breeding tips. From the pictures iv seen, at least. I could definitely be wrong.

His tank sounds awesome :) and looks it, from what i can see.

Has he gotten any more cloaca swelling?
