I know that copper is a no no in newts set ups. I have been given some water storage tanks to rear daphnia in and they have 2 small brass fittings on them. Is brass also not to be used, they are loft water tanks for storing water. Thanks.
 
This thread ( http://www.caudata.org/forum/f1173-...-building-landscaping-vivaria-enclosures.html ) says that all metals aren't safe. But since the amphibians aren't actually going to have any direct contact with the water I would think it would be okay. Unless the metal isn't safe to the daphnia, but I think if probably is.
It might be worth covering the brass areas with silicone if you can though, just to be safe ( and make sure the silicone is safe too, like GE Silicone 1 ).
