I would like to start breeding axolotls, but since it is my first time, i do not want to care for more than 15 juveniles; and i know they can have up to well over a hundred eggs at a time. is their anything i can do besides simply killing the eggs, i do not want to be inhumane.
i dont mind if other adult axols eat them as that is a natural but i personally dont not want to destroy a fertilized egg.

1.will the parents eat all of the remaining eggs i do not remove from the tank to be raised?
2. any other suggestions i can do so i dont have to raise so many axols?

Hey you are in Canada, are you near Ontario?..

I am looking for a breeder.

Sorry I don't have the knowledge to answer your question.

I have never bred axies but from what i understand they will eat the eggs if you leave them in the tank. There is a give away and for sale section on the forum someone in your area might take some of yor hands.
Hope this helps

Lea has some good suggestions. However, there seems to be a shortage of axolotl breeders in Canada and you could greatly benefit other members if you posted an ad in the for sale section. I personally just feed my extra axolotl larvae to my other salamanders and newts.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
