Bringing em home!! and switching food in taricha Granuloso

hello again, I cannot wait until 5:00 when my John brings me my newts! When I do get them, does one "float the bag" like when you bring new goldfish home?
Also, the petstore they come from has been feeding them pellets...I would like to feed them a more natural and varied diet, like small crickets and earthworms. Is it safe to switch them right away, or is a gradual food change necessary? I visit the store alost everyday, and there is a lot of uneaten pellets in the tank...akes it dirty, and I suspect the newts dont like them...
Any other info would be appreciated!! I am so giddy!!

I have always switch from pet store pellets to a more natural food for all of my newts as soon as I star to feed them at home!

I agree with Alberto, I think you can switch foods right away no problem. I believe most newts aren't too keen on pellet foods. It doesn't sound like a bad idea to "float the bag" to get the newts acclimated to a different temperature, but I don't know if this is necessary. Perhaps someone else here could offer some insights. Can't hurt though.
