Hello, I have some tadpoles from some spawn I collected from my grandfathers pond. I am wondering if it would be possible or even ethical to keep a couple when they've morphed into froglets in a vivarium?

I would release them once they'd got bigger, but I'm not sure if that would be fair on the frogs.

I'm also not sure of what kind of habitat they would need, I'm assuming damp substrate with hides.

I know that once froglets leave the pond they don't necessarily return to water until they're old enough to breed, so does that mean there would be no need for a part aquatic set-up in the tank/vivarium? This is of course assuming it would be ok to keep them indoors.
Thank you.

Common frogs make lousy captives - they are nervous and like to jump at the glass (or sides of the vivarium) at the drop of a hat, sometimes causing themselves serious injury. They are fine to raise to a froglet, but at that point I would let them go.
