Broken Baby Axie

So I'm taking care of 3 baby albino axies about 3 weeks old, and 1 1/4 in. long.
I was cleaning out the water and feeding them brine shrimp when I noticed that the tail of one had been knocked off, right up to the torso. He started throwing up then. I moved him to a different container and cleaned out the water as much as I could.
Any suggestions on how to help him live? please?

Hi Fluvre and welcome to the site.

Separate all three. It sounds like a substantial injury and one it may well not survive. I don't mean to be bleak but if I am estimating right that almost half its body.

That having been said axolotls have amazing regenerative abilities so who knows.

Hi,
i would also seperate them into sepeate containers, make sure they each have their water changed daily and their own food source.
This will be the easiest way to stop further injuries and stress.
You will also be able to monitor their feeding.
Just keep an eye on the injured one for signs of fungus.

hi one of my small axolotls had nearly all of its tail ripped off and one arm and one leg he was in a really bad state so i put him in a tank by himself and did not put a filter in with him because it would push him around the tank he was fine like this and i was feeding him up well and in around 3 months he had grown all the tail back also his arm and leg were back and if you look at him know you would not even notice that he had this happen to him.

definately separate them... like the others said it will prevent them from any further injuries...

although they are known for amazing regeneration abilities, i wouldnt rely on it...

if it dies, sure it will be sad, but its better to lose one than all of them yeah?

i hope he/she makes it

Fluvre, a few of mine made the mistake of breaking into their dads side of the tank..most became a snack but one lost his entire tail. He was put in the fridge and happily ate and poohed and ended up rejoining his siblings and regrew his missing tail. This one however proved not to be the brightest of axolotl and repeated his jaunt.... and was never seen again. I'd keep the water clean and cool, offer food and if it eats and poohs you may be fine.
