Question: Brown squishy ball in salamanders cage

Today I bought my salamander a new hiding spot/fake log. But, when I went to put it in his cage i noticed there was a smallish oval shaped thing. I poked it and it was squishy like it may have been waste. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Sounds like the leavings of his last meal - feces.

Seems likely. It is rather large though. About the size of his head. His last meal was a large worm.
