Hello. Brand new to the site and forums here but I am looking for some advice for my sons Axolotl.
This week she has developed what looks like a lump and clear liquid filled blister on the top of her forehead. Does anyone have any information for me here as to what this could be as well as causes. The water temperature did spike earlier this week and we have been able to get it back down using a fan over the top of the tank. Any help would be appreciated.

please read https://ambystoma.uky.edu/genetic-s...Issues-1-12/archive/Issue 3/09-16brothers.pdf under "table of main symptoms of diseases and treatment" at the bottom under E. is blister disease, it does state that if it is large or ruptures then it will require trimming of tissue and antibiotics, it also states that if it remains small and doesn't rupture then it might heal on its own without treatment. although it is a condition that some strains are prone to it would still be a good idea to check and make sure water parameters and chemistry is correct.

Thank you for the information. so now I have to ask how does someone trim away loose skin from an axolotl? We are very new to this. Is penicillin G powder something that you can find in pet stores or aquarium shops generally of does it often require a prescription from a vet?

although you might be able to get Benzylpenicillin (Penicillin G) online the chance are that it would probably have to be vet prescribed.
because movement whilst removing skin would be bad any type of skin removal would have to be done out of water using very sharp scissors or scalpel.
