anyway does anyone have a link that may help me build one with optimal parental guidance.

can't they help you?

I'm just going to a glass shop now to ask a few questions on if they can cut me some 1/4 inch glass and buying the right silicone glue suitable for aquariums and etc. I'll let you know how I go...?

I went to the glass shop and they said they'd make one for me all glued up and with a lid for $160 so I don't have to make it and it's going to be a 30 gallon one! :D (it'd probably be cheaper in aussie)

You need to ask them too, ringing up on the phone is a good idea and they'll give you an idea of the cost for the size and you can see if you want to go that way.

They might just sell you off-cuts that you can cut and glue yourself but the place I went to doesn't do off-cuts because it takes up to much room so they chuck it all away.

Let me know how you get on?

holy •••• charlotte stop right there! 160 for a 90L tank? OMG i picked up a 200L tank for 100!!! please PM me ill let you know where i got my tank from (it was brand new and custom made)

It is not worth making a tank yourself or at a glass shop when you can get them extremely cheap elsewhere. Shop around for a good aquarium shop or look online. For $160 I could get a 90 gallon tank.

do i need a really high tank because axolotls don't really go to the surface sooo ????

It has to do more with water volume, not hight. You are better off with the most water beacuse it buffers itself from spiking of ammonia, nitrite and such. The more water you have, the less water changes you will have to do.

alright how about a one foot high tank ??? and pretty much filled tot he top ???

yes rory thats fine... remember you want the biggest volume you can have but floor space is more important than hight

Have you looked for fish tanks at your local markets?

I go to a market in caboolture (its a pretty big market) and every week there is an old guy there and all he sells is fish tanks. Just last week i bought a 2 foot tank new for $20.

He sells all sorts of tanks including tanks with stands. A four foot with stand and hutch he was selling for $205 (i nearly bought another tank).

So it may be worth you checking round some of the big weekend markets in your area.

im not too sure how other people get on in the uk but tanks here are not all that cheap full stop. custom built ones work out slightly cheaper but only if u want a massive tank is it worth going down this route.also most tanks are sold with a wooden stand/cupboard that they will not let you buy one with out the other for example my new 4 ft tank wiv canister and hood, lighting ,stand etc and this was wiv a big discount "new year sales"was 250 british pounds .next tank i have im gonna try to make my own perspex one "could turn out to be an experiance"

Where did you get that one from? I'm getting one tomorrow 4 foot nothing with it tho, for £18 Bargin i think and just in time my axy has just had eggs!? silly girl!!??

i got it from a massive garden centre sorta like tesocs for the garden and pets, the aqaurium centre there is huge and its where i get my axies from too as the man gets them in for me specialy.its a juwell tank and as i posted. you get everything wiv it, the eheim wiv it must be worth £130 alone so not too bad i guess.the place i am getting it is "taverham garden centre norwich"

Bit far out for me but cann't beat a good bargin lol,

I do like the thought of making one myself but things always look better in your head than they turn out.

yes lol its tranfering the nice pretty pictures we can think of to then making them wiv our our hands. thats where the problem seems to start lol
