Have any of you spotted a change like this? I don't think it's any sort of disease, as the newt is thriving as usual. That's the same male from my tail-sheen thread-series. On older pics here you can see how he did look before. Now i noticed new patches of yellow on his head and sides, which aren't visible only in flashlight:

And by the way, that's how does his tail look off the breeding season:

Looks like one of Rob Keuler´s C.ensicauda. You can see the animal i´m refering to, here:
YouTube - Cynops ensicauda popei feeding
Whatever it is it doesn´t look like a problem.

I experienced something similar with two T.dobrogicus when they were sub-adults, but it was temporary...never knew what it actually was.

@Janusz: How old is that male? I have a wc group C. e. e., which are at least 20-21 years old, and only the male is less darker than the rest of the group. I think it's just like other Cynops species, which are highly variable in their colours.

Assuming that i recieved him when he was 9 months old, he should be 2 years and 9 months old.
Those patches look interesting indeed, as they started appearing not so far ago. I was wondering if any of you have seen something like that in your own Cynops.

I have a Cynops ensicauda that is over 6years old and it have changed some ind the color. Now she is more yellow on here sides too. But I don't think that its the age that done this changes.

Changed something in the food? Or temp. in the tank?
