I've got a bit of a snail situation in my tropical tank, could I feed the little pests to my axies when I get them? Two birds with one stone style. I'd rather not put snail killer in with my fish. Thanks!

You can, but more than likely you'll just end up with a snail problem in your axolotl tank too.

Ah. Slight flaw in the plan there! Might get loaches for the fish tank. The snails are quite sweet, but there are >20. Yes I'm probably overfeeding the tank.

Glad to hear you had achange of heart, snails can be a problem as the will crawl on your axies and cause problems with their slime coat, I have seen some nasty sores from snails.

Ah, definitely no snail snackies then! Thanks for telling me this.

I used to keep those kind of snails as pets when I was a kid! Just a tank full of snails! :p

I have nerite snails in my tank and have forever. If your axie is just sitting there letting them crawl all over their slime coat something is wrong. That sort or lethargy is not a good sign... but I've never had mystery snails in my tank so idk ha

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
