Hello everyone. I was bored one day and decided to look at some youtube videos of Axolotls and I have came across one video of someone feeding there Axolotl vegetables. Not to mention the owner chews up the mix veggies and smushes it into a ball, human saliva mixed in with it. Is it even safe to do this ? ! Can it cause illness for them digesting human saliva and be harmful for there little tum tums ?
Here is the video so yall can see what im talking about.

axolotls love their veggies - YouTube

axies are carnivore and they need meat for a healthy life. Vegetables aren´t a good option. The best and nutritious food for axies are earthworms.

These actually look remarkably healthy axolotls, though still young. The mix includes chicken and human chewing cooked vegetables may make nutrients available.

This is as the poster acknowledges an unconventional feeding programme, but I do wonder if axolotls are as totally carnivorous as most feeding regimes imply. These axies also have access to worms and shrimp. The tank is clean despite vegetables everywhere and the substrate is sand. It looks to me like these axolotls are thriving and I can't see anything to criticise!

I would not advise a totally vegetarian diet but this sort of mix may nourish with a lower ammonia output than all meat feeding. Maybe the proof of the pudding is in the chewing!

Many carnivores eat the stomach contents of their prey, an axolotls diet if it consists of earthworms would also contain some vegetable matter as the worm has vegetation in its gut. Interesting post but dont believe everything you see online lol.

They cant live off them, but they will certainly eat them and get some fullness out of it, but there should always be meat after vegetables!
