Hello,
I rescued my axolotl and don't know much about them. I read here that they like mainly earthworms, but I really am having issues cutting them up as I'm terrified of them. This Axolotl was being starved so I bought axolotl food for her and also have bloodworms, but read that they like/eat shrimp. So I've been cutting up frozen cocktail shrimp into little pieces and when they are soft, putting them in the tank. She loves them.

My question is, is it okay for her to get them every day? Will they hurt her? And she's about 7 1/2 inches long, if that helps for quantity of food.

Thanks.

Shrimp is OK as part of a mixed diet, but at that size she should be able to take whole worms so you don't need to cut them up.

Hi! Thank you auntiejude for your reply.

So you don't think it is healthy for her to eat just shrimp? When I first got her I gave her cut up worms but she seemed to choke on them. I wonder if that is because she hadn't been fed much when I first got her. But the worms I got from the fishing guy were huge!

So a diet of shrimp, bloodworms and axolotl food isn't good for her? She does love the shrimp.
