first i was stressing because i wasnt too sure if my axoltl was getting enough oxygen. she often went to the surfact to gulp air. but she has stop doing that so often i was thinking of getting an air stone but wasnt too sure what exactly they were. she seems fine but i can see the tiny air bubbles in the water and i was wondering if it is possible to have too much oxygen?.. am i just being paranoid?? lol.

Yes it is possible to have too much O2. If you can see your axies gills waving in the breeze, you gotta back off the oxygen, baby. However, it is normal for axies to cruise to the surface, take a breath, and head back down again.

can anything bad happen with too much oxygen? im not sure if i have too much or too little. :S:S

Shane - Axolotls take gulps of air from the surface fairly frequently. Even though they have gills they also have lungs which is why they surface for air too.

You don't want to add so much air that you are making too much current in the water.

They are fine with just a filter and no air stones at all.
