I have a similar aquatic setup for red salamanders with a acrylic divider for the water and land side on the land side I was wondering if I could use sand because I think they can use it but I'm not sure I was wondering if anybody knew help as much appreciated thank you

I have to assume, based on native environments, that sand would be fine. Course loose substrate is common in most bodies of water salamanders use.
