Canister filter for chiller

Hi all, I need a chiller since the aquarium fan isn't cooling enough and I'm thinking about getting the JBJ Arctica 1/15 chiller (110-160 gph min/max). Tank sits around 73F without the fan.

I'm currently cycling my 30g tank (20 long footprint) for 1 or 2 axolotls. I have an AquaClear 50 HOB and a large sponge filter rated for 60g.

I heard just using a water pump for the chiller will make it dirty so I think I will get a canister filter instead as the pump. Should I go for the Fluval 207 (200gph) + keep HOB filter (is 3 filters too much??) or replace HOB with a Fluval 307(300gph)?

The max flow rate on the 307 is a bit high but I heard that you can adjust the flow on it.
Also, will replacing/adding the filter and chiller delay my cycle?

I don’t know about the other filters, but I’ve had my 207 for a while and it’s a complete powerhouse. I have it as the only filter in my 20 gallon long, and honestly I think it’s a bit overkill. If you are going to use it with the chiller, I don’t think you will need the HOB. The flow rate is very easy to control, it’s a lever on top of the canister. Hope this helps a bit!

I will remove the HOB and just run the Fluval 207 + chiller
