I have a beautiful golden axolotl that I've raised from purchased eggs...It seems to have the physiology of a cannibalistic morph and it's behavior is certainly cannibalistic. I've read several articles on cannibalistic tiger salamanders, but was wondering if anyone has any info. specific to axolotls?

Hi Justin,
I've noticed in most clutches some of the axolotls will grow much faster than their clutch mates. These fast growing axolotls will turn around and eat the smaller axolotls if not separated by size. When separated by size they don't seem to attack tank mates any more than other axolotls. This is what I've seen from casual observation of thousands of juvenile axolotls.
My understanding of the killer tiger salamanders is they have different physical characteristics than the normal tigers. I really havn't watched the axolotls close enough to see if this is the case.
