I always loved this species but often refrain from getting them because I see the sometimes bad condition some of the wild caught ones I see in shops. Has this species been bred in captivity?

Not that I’m aware of. Few, if any, North American tree frogs are bred in captivity.

Thats rather unfortunate. Maybe in the future I’ll give it a whirl
