Check Valves

Hi,

I have recently purchased an under gravel filter & was wondering if i need to cut the filter pipe to attach the check valve that came with it to it? If so, where would i cut it along the pipe? It's for a 23 litre tank, and didn't give instruction's for the check valve set up. I don't want to damage the unit.

Any help would be really good.

First, I hope you're not planning to house an axie in that tank. Axies can't have gravel in the tank because they'll eat it and that filter won't work without gravel. With an air pump, you could switch to a sponge filter.

The check valve is only really necessary if you plan on leaving the pump below the tank.

It can be placed anywhere along the line, but I'd keep the tubing a reasonable length (either close to the pump or in the middle) in case I want to reuse the tubing. Just make sure the check valve's arrow is pointing away from the pump.
