Chemicals in the Water?

Just wondering, I've been putting ice bottles into my axolotl tank to keep it cool, as I can't put them into the fridge, and this one I filled about three weeks ago burst in the tank and it was filled with tap water that's normally treated.

Could there be any chemicals in the water, even know the water was frozen for over a week? There's no bubbles in the tank or on their gills.

The only problem would be chlorine and chloramines, if you usually use your tap water. The amount of chlorine going into the tank from a small water bottle isn't really a big deal. You ought to do a water change though, something like 15% to dilute it more. It shouldn't do harm, but definitely get some more treated water in there. No need to overhaul the tank, as I doubt much got in. Just a water change and you should be alright. Also keep doing small water changes a bit more frequently for the next two or three times, if you aren't worried about a cycle.

Tap water will be fine, the amount of chlorine that's in your tap water is minuscule in compassion to what they initially put in since it has to travel. In Australia they don't use chloramines (except extremely remote areas that aren't on tank water) as soon as the water hits your tank water that chlorine will become almost untraceable. If you don't want to you do have to do changes, your axies will be fine.
