I have a 10 gallon tank set up for Eurycea Lucifuga, and have nothing on the bottom of the tank except 3 inches of water and a few rocks at the moment, I have a filter and I know I need to do a weekly partial water change, but was just wondering how do I clean the debris (moss and excretment) on the bottom of the tank? Do you all use a siphon?

Since it's only a few inches of water, I'm going to go ahead and completely clean the tank and add new water.

You don't want to completely remove the water every time. Especially if you are trying to establish a cycled tank. Removing all the water each time will be like starting from scratch and can be detrimental to your animal. I would recommend doing 20% water changes every week and use a turkey baster to suck up debris from the bottom.

Your best friend for spot cleaning up stuff like that is a turkey baster. Follow that up with a small net.
