Don't they look great!
They have grown so much, and are really great to watch. The little children will quite happily sit and listen to music whilst they are swimming around.
Wish I had more tank space for some more!

Your axolotls are very nice Shelgah. Just wondering, how big are they?

Funny you should mention size - i measured them today ( well as best you can with a ruler up against the outside of the tank and an obliging still axie)
Constanza is now about 7 1/2 inches long, and Amadeus about 8 1/2. They have grown so much

I find that the easiest way to measure them is to take them out of the tank and put them in a smaller container or use something already in the tank to compare the axolotl to and then measure that objects length.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
