I have two axolotls and only one is having this problem. She’s usually eats 2-3 worms every other day but in the last week and a half I’ve only managed to get her to eat one worm twice. Her bum is floating (she can keep herself down though) so I think it’s constipation. I did have her tubbed but it became very difficult to keep the water cold enough while I’m at work. The parameters are ph:7.6 ammonia:0 nitrite:0 and nitrate: 10 or 20 (couldn’t tell so did water change anyways) So I don’t think it’s that and the tank sits between 16 and 18, usually around 17 during the day. I was told to try tea baths but that hasn’t helped any. I’m concerned it’s causing stress and about her sudden loss of appetite. I would really appreciate advice.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
