does anyone know whether flossy salt is ok to use on axolotls if they get fungus? cause i bought some at an aquarium shop just in case any of my axies ever get fungus. they said it would be okay to use on axies but i thought i better check cause they didnt convince me that they knew what they were talking about. also my local aquarium shop said not to feed my axie earth worms cause the worms have sand inside them. are they right or should i ignore them and feed her the occasional earth worm?

I bought a small worm farm especially for feeding. I feed worms every now and then to those that accept it. Only about three of my seven axolotls actually accept them.

I too have flossy salt. Apparently, this is used for tanning leather from what I have been led to believe. I have never had to use it fortunately. But I think that rock salt is the preferred salt? If people disagree, I'm sure they'll post and let me know

Aquarium or sea salt are the prefered salts to use ofr salt baths. And no, the people at your local pet shop have no idea what they are talking about, worm wise.

thanks for the advice everyone, i should see if i can find other salt besides flossy salt, i dont need it urgently cause my axie doesnt have anything wrong with her it would just be handy to have in case something did go wrong.

Vanessa I salt bath my axie in saxa cooking salt just the stuff you buy at coles for $1 a bag works a treat.

Hi Paul,
I use 2 teaspoons per litre of water, I just do it a plastic bucket with measures up the side, usually two litres with four teaspoons of cooking salt, I pick her up and put her in for 10 minutes, I was only doing it once a day for a few days for a skin infection (I think thats what it was) that she had. You can do it twice a day, far as I know if needed.
