Crystalwort?

I've been looking around at local pet stores for this plant, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm looking for something to add some greenery to my tank, but I want something that doesn't require deep sand or other substrate.

If anyone has suggestions other than this plant, or if you know where I could buy crystalwort, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks to the Japan induced obsession with microaquaria and shrimp tanks, there is a plethora of live plants available for obscenely low prices.


One suggestion though, make sure you know the scientific nomenclature for what you are after. What I know as "crystalwort" is not suitable for amphibian tanks.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
