What about sand?
'Mixed' sort of covers it, as I have almost white aquarium sand overall, plus a stack of cobbles & a cave of Herefordshire 'mud stone' (which is rather like red sandstone).
Surely sand is the ideal main substrate, yet not a voting option?
Heather(puzzled, and almost all alone in school closed by snow, watching spawn hatch!)
