In a month, I'm getting three firebelly newts shipped to me. I also plan on getting either a red-spotted eft or adult from the wild. I'm also going to get a 20-gallon tank, which I'll make semi-aquatic. Can I do this without worrying about anything going wrong? I've read newts are communal, and share everything.

Tim,
If you intend to keep them (Cynops and red eft) together then no, this is not recommended.

No, this time I'm leaning towards an aquatic adult, not a red eft.

Tim, you missed the point. You should not keep these species together, regardless of the life stage they're in.
